Ascertain that management has put processes and practices in place that ensure IT delivers provable value to the business

Monitor how management determines what IT resources are needed to achieve strategic goal

Be aware about IT risk exposures and their containment

Assess senior management’s performance on IT strategies in operation

Ratify the aligned business and IT strategy

Evaluate the effectiveness of management’s monitoring of IT risks

Work with the executive to define and monitor high-level IT performance

Ensure the IT organisational structure complements the business model and direction

Ensure IT investments represent a balance of risks and benefit and that budgets are acceptable

Ensure a proper balance of IT investments for sustaining and growing the enterprise

illustrate the importance of these roles and responsibilities, specifically by describing the impact when executive management is ignoring their IT responsibilities
